Kelsey and Hunter I An Elegant Country Wedding at The Homeplace at Johnston Farms

I always love hearing about how the groom popped the question!  And I have to admit, Hunter’s proposal is probably one of the sweetest ways I have ever heard!  Hunter spent a good amount of time planning this elaborate, yet perfect way to ask for Kelsey’s hand in marriage.  While Kelsey was away, Hunter hung numerous photos of them through the years all around their home and lit candles to create that special, romantic ambiance.  When Kelsey arrived home, to her surprise, there was a montage of the relationship throughout the house, with gorgeous candles lighting the way to Hunter.  Little did Kelsey know that at the end of this was Hunter, down on one knee asking her to be his forever.  And of course, Kelsey said “yes!”.

Kelsey is a planner at heart.  So she immediately went into planning mode after Hunter asked her to marry him.  Kelsey reached out to me in April 2020 and after hearing her engagement story (she showed me a video..it was the sweetest!), I knew she would be a perfect #AJPBride!  I was truly excited to meet these two for the first time at their venue, for their engagement photos.  And let me tell you, The Homeplace at Johnston Farm couldn’t have been a more perfect space for the couple.  The scenic, stunning views helped amplify how truly, deeply, in-love this pair is.

The Homeplace at Johnston Farm

The Homeplace at Johnston Farm is a gorgeous century old farm that has been graced by God’s handiwork.  Located on a sprawling 132 rolling acres of farmland, The Homeplace is framed in by beautiful East Tennessee mountain views.  Honestly there is no shortage of serene backdrops for all who step on this land.  In 2018, the Barn as it is fondly known as, was completed to complement the stunning outdoor views.  The owners not only wanted guests to have breathtaking outdoor views but it was important that the indoor space reflect the same beauty.  The barn spared no expense and the interior is nothing short of magnificent.  For any couple who is looking for a beautiful venue space both inside and out with the feeling of God’s presence draped across the land; The Homeplace at Johnston Farm is the venue you need when you say your vows.

The Wedding

Each wedding is special and unique and as a photographer, I feel very blessed to be a part of each wedding I shoot.  For me, each one has a few special moments that absolutely get me.  My first favorite moment was prior to the ceremony when Kelsey and Hunter exchanged hand-written letters to each other.  These touching letters, expressing the moment intimate feelings towards each other definitely brought tears to BOTH eyes 💕

But I have to admit, as touching as it was seeing how emotional these two were over their heartfelt love letters to each other; my absolute favorite moment of the whole day was when Hunter saw Kelsey for the first time.  This couple decided not to do a first look, so Hunter saw his bride for the first time as she walked down the aisle and he was absolutely STUNNED by how beautiful she was.  His emotions quickly went from stunned to teary-eyed as he processed that this beautiful woman coming towards him would soon become his wife and how blessed he truly was to have her by his side.

Kelsey and Hunter,  your wedding day was one of the most beautiful events I have captured!  From the perfect details, to your ceremony with those mountain views, to the love, joy, and fun you shared with your friends and family, you truly created a perfect day!  It was such an honor to be with you on this journey towards becoming husband and wife and I wish you nothing but the best!

XOXO,

Alissa
