Be prepared; This is going to be a long post! I first met Brittany when I was 16! She was a manager at the grocery store I worked at as a teen. Funny story, she even wrote me up once! 🤣 I deserved it 🤷🏻♀️ So I have known her for a while, she even went to high school with my husband! It wasn’t until the day he proposed, that I met Zac. Brittany had booked a fall mini with me & the day of their session, Zac messaged me and asked if it would be okay that he proposed during the session! Ummmm…duh! I was so excited & so nervous. We came up with a code phrase, so I knew when he asked me how long I had been doing photography, that he was ready. I posed them where she was facing away, and he dropped to one knee! I captured every moment, and I am so happy he asked me to do this! We finished the session with a few “just engaged” portraits, and a few weeks later they booked me as their wedding photographer!
Fast forward to June 1st, I arrived a few hours before the ceremony and Brittany was in such good spirits! If she was nervous, she didn’t show it! The bridesmaids were already dressed, and Brittany was dressed in the CUTEST pajamas. I immediately got started with their details. By far, my favorite detail of the day was her bouquet. If you’ll notice, there is a broach and two rings attached to the base of her bouquet. They belonged to her grandparents ❤️
Around 3pm, we headed over to the church to do a quick prayer before their ceremony. I found this spot beforehand, and it was perfect because they couldn’t see each other, but could still touch and both be in the photo! Brittany led the prayer and it was so beautiful and sweet. I love these moments right before the ceremony where they held hands for the last time as each other’s fiance!
After their prayer, we headed out to do some bridesmaid & groomsmen portraits before the wedding. Of course I separated them so Zac didn’t see Brittany. We started with the Bride & Bridesmaids. They sun wasn’t out friend, as it was pretty harsh at 3pm, but we managed to get some great portraits. These girls were So. MUCH. FUN! Three of the four were Brittany’s sisters! Would you believe me if I told you they didn’t fight/argue once?! And they ALL mastered the #AJPLaugh!! I was sooo impressed.
The Groomsmen were pretty fun too. They loved doing the GQ walk, as I call it. They all wanted to play with their suspenders, which I seriously couldn’t blame them. They all had completely different personalities, which was so fun to see them all laugh together.
This guy was a CLOWN and I LOVED it! 👇🏻
Shortly after the bridesmaid & groomsmen portraits, we got ready for the ceremony! Zac’s reaction was so sweet. He grinned from ear to ear and it melted my heart! Their entire ceremony was beautiful. They mixed three colors of sand for their unity ceremony.
After the ceremony we did some family formals and then headed to the reception! Brittany & Zac were introduced as Mr. & Mrs. Crum and then the DJ called Zac up to the front. I knew what was going to happy but oh my, it was hilarious! As guests came in, they gave random women keys. So they called him up to the front and said “Zac is now off the market, so ladies, if you have any keys to Zac’s house, Brittany would like you to return them now please”. And a bunch of women retuned the fake keys! 🤣 Zac was so embarrassed.. it was HILARIOUS!
At their reception, they had delicious BBQ, yummy cake & cupcakes and a whole lot of fun dancing! I love weddings where the guests get up and dance, it makes everything so much more fun. They cut the cake, tossed the bouquet & garter, and played the shoe game. I am low key in love with this game, it is so fun!
We decided to do their wedding party & bridal portraits during the reception to utilize the best lighting. I am so glad we did! I got so many beautiful glowy sunset images! Also, Brittany sent me some inspiration images that she wanted to recreate. One of them was them kissing and their bridal party in the background, and this was SO FUN to shoot! I am telling you guys, their bridal party was so much fun!
