Harper Jo and Jonny I An Elegant Harvest Acres Farm Wedding

I first met Harper Jo and Jonny when I captured their engagement portraits in April at a family friend’s farm.  Their engagement session was absolutely perfect!  The farm was utterly gorgeous; trees in full spring flowering bloom with a gorgeous stately weeping willow (my favorite tree!).  Needless-to-say, there were PLENTY of stunning backdrops that perfectly complemented this ADORABLE couple!

Fast forward about 8 weeks and I was blessed to capture this sweet couple’s wedding day!  Harper Jo and Jonny were married on a cool, yes I said cool, late May day at the Harvest Acres Farm in Limestone, Tennessee.  For anyone who is not familiar with Harvest Acres Farm, let me tell you, it is truly a lovely country chic venue!  What’s unique about this venue space is the Appalachian style barn that was constructed with locally sourced woods from the beautiful Smokey Mountains.  With the interior of the barn beautifully crafted with Eastern Red Cedar cut from the Virginia mountains.  There is honestly no shortage of places to take fantastic portraits.

Harper Jo’s mom planned and executed the entire wedding and it was utterly PERFECT!  While the venue is beautiful on it’s own, Harper Jo’s mom really took the natural beauty of the space and elevated it to a supremely elegant, classy, rustic wedding – – just like her daughter envisioned!  Her mom took the color palette of champagne, ivory, and eucalyptus and carefully incorporated this elegant scheme into every part of the day.  I was speechless at how pretty everything looked!  It really looked like a wedding taken straight out of a magazine!

Well now that I’ve talked about how gorgeous the venue and decor was, I need to move on to my stunning bride.  Harper Jo was breathtakingly beautiful!  She just glowed in her Illusion Cap Sleeve Lace Appliqued wedding dress by Galina Signature from David’s Bridal.  She radiated confidence, beauty, and grace in that dress and it shows in every single one of her wedding photos.  She did a first look with Jonny and then a first look with her dad and honestly, I may have been a little teary eyed behind the camera. I did a first look with my daddy, and I know how special it is!

The one fun thing about weddings is that sometimes they are unpredictable!  And for Harper Jo and Jonny, at the last moment, their ceremony had to be moved indoors due to rain.  But really, it was truly a blessing because they were wed with their two officiants (one was Harper Jo’s grandfather!) in front of the AMAZING fireplace!

And last but not least, my favorite part of this wedding was towards the end of the night. Instead of a garter toss, Jonny did an “under the hood inspection”.  Jonny is a mechanic and decided that the traditional removal of the garter was not for him.  So, he brought his creeper (yes, that’s the technical name according to Google!) rolled under her dress to “check everything out” but found that the garter needed to be removed!  I have to admit, this is probably the MOST creative way I have ever seen a garter toss done but I loved that this couple incorporated part of who they are into their reception to bring in some fun!

Harper Jo and Jonny, thank you so much for letting me be a part of this special time in your lives!  I am so thankful that you trusted me to capture these beautiful moments that I know you will treasure for a lifetime.  I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you two!  Cheers to the new Mr. and Mrs. Almen!

XOXO,

Alissa
