Shooting 3 weddings within one week is hard, but 100% worth it to serve amazing clients like mine! On a Wednesday in October we had another absolutely amazing wedding in this lovely fall weather! It was Aly and Dylan Johnson’s special day at the Millstone venue in Limestone. I love the rustic look that the exposed wooden beams and stone gives to this restored historic venue. The outdoor wedding had gorgeous orange colors in the trees during the peak season of fall that perfectly complemented the beautiful bouquets by Flowers by Tammy. When the couple chooses flowers by Tammy, I know that it will be an incredibly special day! She is so incredibly talented, and everytime I walk into a wedding day with her work, I get even more excited! The lovely white roses and red petals felt like their own special detail to the white tulle of Aly’s dress and burgundy bride’s maid dresses. I especially love seeing sunflowers in any bouquet or boutineer!
This stunning venue nestled in the countryside of Limestone offered the perfect landscape to say ‘I do’ for Aly and Dylan. The vows they exchanged under the fall colored leaves were the absolute sweetest words that really spoke to their love for each other and the many joyful years to come that they will spend together. I even made sure to snap a few shots of Aly’s radiant wedding ring with those passionate, handwritten vows.
Before the ceremony, the girls got ready in a quaint little cabin on the Millstone property that provided the perfect ambiance for Aly and her party to spend precious time laughing and smiling with each other, precious moments that made for the loveliest photos and brightest memories. I most appreciate Aly’s maid of honor, Tyanna, who recommended me to her best friend to shoot her big day. Even if this past client spent some time resting in the venue’s tub with pizza because she is expecting, news to me that I found out during Tyanna’s fall minis earlier! I am so happy to hear about them and I know that they deserve to be the greatest parents! I can’t wait to shoot their future family together.
The smiles and conversation were even livelier in the elegant glass atrium that their reception was held in. As awe-inspiring as the glass and landscape views beyond were, Aly and Dylan stole the show with their constant laughter, shared smiles, and obvious passion for one another. I absolutely love it when a couple can really enjoy their special day with family and friends to the fullest extent. Dring the cake cutting of the gorgeous cake, Aly may have gotten a little bit of icing in her nose, showing how much fun this couple’s lives will be together from that day on as they unite themselves and their families.
My most favorite moment to photograph on a couple’s big day is the golden hour during the sunset when the venue is on fire with beautiful light and the sun’s glow on their faces matches the glow of compassion in their eyes. These golden hour portraits really add a special touch that remind me of their intimacy and truly capture the fall weather. The close up shots I can capture in the last sunlit hours of the greatest day of their lives reminds me why I chose to begin photographing weddings many years ago.
October weddings in the outdoors during peak color changing season like Aly and Dylan’s are my favorite to do and feel the most magical. Fall is HANDS DOWN my favorite season, so that is why I book myself solid with weddings & sessions, because I know how beautiful it is!
Dylan & Aly, I feel so grateful to you both for allowing me to capture your big day and be there with you through the laughter and smiles, and maybe even a tear or two. You chose the PERFECT venue, and I am so looking forward to making more memories with yall in the future!
XOXO,
Alissa
