I have SO much I could say about this wedding day. To start, Haley & Patrick were such troopers. It is never easy to not have great weather on your wedding day, but they really made the best of it!
I started my day with driving to Gatlinburg. I finally made it after fighting through a terrible storm and the crazy amount of traffic. Once I arrived, I started photographing the beautiful bridal details. I want to brag on my bride for a second here. Haley & one of her sweet bridesmaids MADE this sola wood bouquet! I was FLOORED when she told me it was custom made. They even dyed the flowers! I was seriously so impressed at how beautiful this bouquet was, and that it was completely handmade. The rest of her details were seriously so perfect. I am in LOVE with her rings, her blush pink ring box & vow booklets were so perfect. And can we talk about her boots & earrings?! This girl knows how to rock some bling! I also loved the Fossil watches the groom & groomsmen had. Seriously everything about the details of this wedding was perfection. And we had such a blast shooting those mimosa & PJ shots! I’ve never had the opportunity to do a champagne shot, so when I saw the bottle I knew I had to!
Haley & Patrick decided to do a first look, so of course we had to use the beautiful Smokey Mountains as a backdrop. She came from behind him & gave him such a sweet hug. When he finally turned around, he couldn’t help but to let all of the emotions, stress & nerves of the day go. I’m not going to lie, seeing a groom cry is one of my favorite things!
After their first look, it was time to get married! Their ceremony space was beautifully decorated with more handmade details. With their friends & family there, they said their own personal vows with the AMAZING mountain view in the background. They had a beautiful tree unity ceremony (I did this with my hubby at our wedding!) and exchanged rings. There were tears, laughs and plenty of cheering!
We didn’t get the chance to go outside for wedding party, family or bridal portraits after the ceremony because of the rain. But about 20 minutes into the reception I saw that the rain had stopped & the sun was peeking through the clouds! So I ran over to them and stole them for a few minutes, and we ended up capturing my favorite photos of the entire day. I am SO thankful that the rain and gloom cleared for a few minutes to allow us to capture these.
Their reception was SO much fun! When I say it was a party, I’m not exaggerating. Everyone was having a great time, dancing & eating the delicious cupcakes. I took SO many dancing shots, I had to share a few! And all of the reception details & decor were so thought out and beautiful. I’m telling you, Haley is a crafting QUEEN! She made the wooden names for the place settings, the centerpieces, the signs, everything! I’m blown away.
All in all, I think we made the best of a rainy day. This means they’ll have years of good luck in their marriage, right? We had such a good time with their sweet friends & family, and I’m so thankful I could be there!
Patrick & Haley, Thank you so much for allowing me to come & capture your big day! You two are so precious, and I hope you have a long & happy marriage together! (Sorry for the phone photo, but I had to share our photo together!)
XOXO, Alissa
